Sep 27, 2019 · The only problem is how to load the magazine. Either the follower and end cap detach from the magazine body as on modern Henry rifles or a loading gate is built into the receiver unit. The next best idea is to abandon the tube altogether and craft a box magazine or a rotary magazine. The North & Skinner was an early 6-shot percussion-fired revolving rifle design. Its design was patented in 1852 by Henry North and Chauncy Skinner (US Patent #8982), and the guns were manufactured from 1856 to 1859 by the Savage & North company (which was Henry North and Edward Savage - not the Arthur Savage who developed the Savage 99). Two problems I have encountered and reported to Henry: (1) the lever does not lock into position with a full magazine and (2) cartridges must be 1.58″ or better or they will not feed properly. Jun 04, 2008 · The only problem I have had is that it went unfired for about 9-11 years and the oils gummed it up. One good cleaning and it was like new. It is simply a hard to hurt rifle. With one or two rounds in the tube, everything worked fine. Put in 9-rounds and I had to rack the bolt handle four or more times before it would feed.
